On a mission to mitigate impacts on BC’s wild places.

Debris Removed

Rugged Coast Research Society (RCRS) is a non-profit organization and registered charity with a multi-disciplinary team of marine industry professionals.

With decades of combined experience in marine logistics, conservation and marine biology, GIS and project management, our team plans and safely execute research and restoration projects in the remote and rugged corners of British Columbia’s coast.

RCRS places tremendous value on our partnerships with each of the Coastal First Nations communities whose territory and land we operate in. We are continuously seeking guidance and direction from each Nation so that we are able to meet the goals of each and strive to first provide training and jobs locally.

OUR VISION

For the natural and coastal habitats of British Columbia to thrive and to support healthy populations of marine and terrestrial wildlife. While integrating sustainable human habitation, we envision a future where we collaboratively reduce our impact and transform our perspective.

Through partnerships with Indigenous governments, community organizations, stewardship groups, businesses and other non-profit organizations, and provincial and federal agencies, we are committed to collaboratively working to restore and protect remote and sensitive marine habitats.

PARTNERSHIPS

We have been exploring remote areas of our coastline in search of surf and adventure for many years. Along the way, we kept finding pristine remote shorelines laden with marine debris. Initially, RCRS was started as a means to give back while enjoying and experiencing remote areas of our coastline, and has now grown into a larger movement – “Protect what you Love.”
